Vista Optical

Licensed Optican / Store Manager
Apr 1997 - Jun 2000
Sales, Optical

Became ABO licensed after 1 year of employment
Excelled in meeting quarterly sales goals

Funny story, I was visiting optical stores looking to do an internship with an optometrist. I ended up meeting a woman by the name of Norine Mungo who somehow talked me into working for her (she was store manager) when there was no doctor on-site. Hired as an optician and later took state exam and became a ABO licensed optician. After 2 years of employment became store manager. Due to cutbacks company closed down store and subsequently I was laid off. Norine and I are still good friends especially when her kids are the same age as I. I also made a great friend with a family man, Gilbert Lorico. Twice a year we call one another to wish each happy thanksgiving and Christmas new year. The tradition continues to this day.

Met or surpassed goal of $1800 - $2700 for anti-reflective coatings, per store, by 33% for at least one quarter. Was ranked second in meeting sales goal.
Surpassed goal of $240 in the sales of children's fames by 50 - 75% per week.
As store manager increased store profits from ~$50,000 to ~$70,000, surpassing previous year's quarter.

Century Theatres

Floor Staff / Box Office
May 1995 - Jul 1995
Entertainment

Always on time for work
Promoted to box office due to exceptional work

Century Theatres was my first job and I started out with a broom and dustpan cleaning movie theatres. I can still remember the smell of sticky soda, buttered popcorn, and candy somehow following me wherever I went. Someone higher up must have noticed me, because I moved into box office handling cash and exchanging them for movie tickets to patrons. I was safe from the smell of half-eaten popcorn in that enclosed box office. I was able to stay in the box office until my last day of employment because I was always even in my cash register. My last day was harmoniously on my birthday, although I don't remember why... but it must have been for a good reason.
